Rosie Gives Britney a Shout-Out

Rosie O’Donnell is in full support of Britney Spears showing her True Colors.

In a video blog on her Website, O’Donnell waxed enthusiastic about the possibility that the tarnished pop princess might be making a guest appearance alongside Cyndi Lauper later this month.

“Brit, if you’re watching, honey, you and me—we’re gonna share, like, a backstage moment, ’cause I love you, kid!” said O’Donnell, who has been playing the drums for some of Lauper’s performances.

Rumor has it that Spears will join the True Colors tour for the Los Angeles stopover at the Greek Theater on Saturday. Her choreographer told People last week that the singer had been auditioning male backup dancers in anticipation of the performance.

However, as O’Donnell tells it, Lauper would be among those surprised by a surprise Spears appearance.

“Cyndi says it’s not happening and it’s Cyndi’s tour, so she would know,” O’Donnell said.

But the former View cohost isn’t giving up hope just yet.

“If it is happening, I’m thrilled, because I enjoy Britney,” she said.

Tour organizers had no comment on the situation.

Last month, Spears performed several (poorly kept) secret shows at venues in Southern California and Las Vegas marking her first live appearances in almost three years.

The mother-of-two has reportedly been hard at work on a comeback album, though no release date has been revealed.

In the meantime, Spears recently unveiled a new cryptic message on her Website, reading: “Mother to Grandmother, and my my, you’re grand.”

No word on what the pop star meant by the message, or if it was intended for her own mother, Lynne Spears, with whom she has reportedly had strained relations of late.

Whether or not Spears makes an appearance, there will be plenty to take in at Saturday’s True Colors concert.

Aside from Lauper, other acts scheduled to take the stage include Erasure, Debbie Harry, the Dresden Dolls and the MisShapes. Margeret Cho will serve as emcee and O’Donnell is expected to perform a standup act.

Britney’s rep confirms new fragrance and denies ‘diva’ rumors

UBritney.com: Britney’s rep spoke out, confirming that there’s in fact a new perfume coming out and also denying that Britney stormed off the set while shooting a promotional ad for the fragrance: “She didn’t storm off at all. She did the shoot in less than four hours,” the rep told Access Hollywood.

New Britney fragrance in the works

Brit has a new perfume in the works, and she’s hoping to start promoting it soon (maybe in conjunction with the release of her new album). But it will be hard to promote the product if she keeps walking away from commercial shoots.

“There was a shoot last week in L.A. for a new perfume she’s coming out with and something happened,” said an insider. Whatever the incident was, she walked off the lot and refused to finish the shoot.

“She is not listening to anyone and doing exactly what she wants. But sometimes she doesn’t know best,” reported the source. Evidence of that can be seen in some of the other poor decisions she’s made recently.

Regardless, Brit has a new album in the final stages of production, and it’s supposed to be huge. “Four definite hits on the next album. It’s amazing,” the source said.

Britney’s night on the town

Monday night was ladies’ night for Britney Spears, who hit the town in L.A. with her assistant and BFF, Alli Sims, and some female friends.

For dinner it was SHU Sushi House Unico in Bel Air, which has become a favorite haunt of the singer’s. As always, she and her group dined in a private upstairs area, says a source, adding that Spears enjoyed her usual: California roll and a salad.

“She seemed happy,” says the source. “She just enjoyed the music [an XM "Chill" station], the atmosphere and the food. She was just having fun.”

Next the pals hit Guy’s, followed by a brief stop-off at Winston’s. “Britney and Alli were holding hands, not leaving one another’s side,” says a clubgoer. “Britney spent much of her time whispering into Alli’s ear, smiling, drinking a bottle of water – [she seemed to be] in a really good mood, goofing around.”

Just before 1 a.m., Spears and friends arrived at the hip Hollywood hangout Joseph’s, but by then, the evening was winding down. “Britney was pretty subdued,” says a witness. “She didn’t really appear to be having a good time. She was casually talking with Alli. All the guests were swarming around her table to try and get a peek.”

Justin talks about Britney in new interview

UntouchableBritney.com: ‘Timberlake has consistently declined to be drawn on the inspirations behind the song, ‘What Goes Around’, which is assumed to be about his old friend, Britney Spears. But given that he’s brilliantly re-tooled his own career in myriad new different directions, I wonder if given the chance, he would help Britney’s?

“I think this goes for anyone: it all starts with the songs. The truth of it is, she had catchy songs. If she had catchy songs again, I don’t think anybody would be chastising her as much as they are.”‘

Bjork sympathises with Britney

Icelandic pop star BJORK sympathises with fellow singer BRITNEY SPEARS’ struggle to juggle the pressures of celebrity with a successful music career. The star recalls how dealing with fame became too much for her during the height of her career in the 1990s when she was living in the U.K., prompting her to attack a journalist who tried to talk to her 10-year-old son. And she can relate to troubled singer Spears, who is hoping to revive her career after a stint in rehab and constant press criticism about her parenting skills and party lifestyle. Bjork says, “I definitely feel sympathy for Britney, but I had a choice. I could move away. She can’t.”

T-Pain talks about why Britney decided to shave her head

AP: You produced two songs for Britney Spears. What is your impression of her?

TP: That was the most beautiful thing in the world. Do you know why she was shaving her head? Because it was so important to other people. She is like, “Listen. Don’t touch my hair anymore. Stop touching my hair.” She still had hair and all that (when I worked with her). People were like, “We’ve got to make your hair before you go outside. You can’t leave.” She went … “Now I don’t have hair. What you going to do?” You can’t hate R. Kelly. You can’t hate Britney Spears because you know what, no matter what Britney Spears been doing, she’s still on TV. Every time I say something about her, “People are like, ‘For real, Britney Spears. How was that?” You can’t get rid of these people no matter what they do. R. Kelly, 16 years in the game, one incident can’t take away the last 15 years.

Ne-Yo urges the media to leave Britney alone

R&B star Ne-Yo has urged the media to leave fellow singer Britney Spears alone. The rapper, who is overseeing Spear’s comeback, feels sorry for the singer as she has come under heavy criticism from the press. He says, “I’ve got a soft spot for Britney. I feel bad for her. She’s obviously going through a hard time but the press and media aren’t giving her time to heal. “It’s really sad.”

Charlotte Church defends Britney

Pregnant star CHARLOTTE CHURCH has defended BRITNEY SPEARS for her post-baby partying – insisting it’s okay to drink when you are a mother. Church, who is due to give birth to her first child later this year (07), wishes critics who accuse Spears of being a bad mother just because she is pictured going on nights out would stop criticising the pop star.

The Welsh singer says, “If you’re a woman, you’re supposed to stay sober until your kids grow up. That’s not fair. Just because Britney has the odd night on the lash (out drinking) doesn’t make her a bad mum. She’s still allowed to have a good time every now and again. It would be different if it was every night.”

Hilary Duff: Leave Britney alone!

Pop star HILARY DUFF insists it was inevitable BRITNEY SPEARS would have a breakdown. The 19-year-old singer believes the Toxic star’s admittance to the Promises clinic in Malibu, California earlier this year was due to the unrelenting pressure she has faced since a young age. She says, “I feel for her. I’ve met her a few times and she’s very sweet, hard-working and talented. Being Britney Spears must be difficult. She’s been told what to do since she was young. She’s not a bad mum – she’s a first-time mum, and because she’s famous, she’s expected never to make mistakes. The pressure she’s under would get to anyone. People need to leave her alone.”
